Interested in becoming a referee? Contact Vinny Alfano ([email protected]) for more information!

Due to US Soccer age requirements, refereeing is open to kids entering Grade 7 and higher. However, Seekonk Youth Soccer will allow any referee entering 7th or 8th grade to referee Fall Recreation soccer games for without certification so that our young referees can try it out before committing to getting certified. After our referees complete their first season, the expectation is that they will go on to get certified to continue on their refereeing career.

All referees interested in officiating Black Goose games must have a completed certification. Once certified, referees are expected to recertify once a year, and Seekonk Youth Soccer will reimburse for some of those costs. Referees can feel free to complete their certification either in Massachusetts or Rhode Island, whichever is more convenient . For more information this process, please visit the Massachusetts State Referee Committee website (https://www.massref.net/becoming-a-referee/steps-to-become-referee/) or Rhode Island State Referee Committee website (https://risrc.us/referee/new-referee/).
